Experience: Project Leader & Port Washington UFSD - ENL Family Literacy Night
A family literacy initiative conducted in partnership with St. John's University Project Leader and Port Washington Schools, aimed at fostering home language literacy among English Language Learner families and their children.

Experience: NYSABE 45th Annual Conference
This conference, themed "Celebrating Transformative Educators, Families, and Community Leaders in Bilingual Education," was a monumental event, successfully coordinated and implemented to bring together over 750 educators from across New York State.

The conference was designed to be a comprehensive platform for professional development, focusing on enhancing instructional practices to mitigate learning losses and accelerate learning. Additionally, it featured sessions on social-emotional well-being and wellness activities, aimed at rejuvenating our educators and reinforcing their commitment to bilingual education. The program developed and conference also highlighted advocacy, educational leadership, World Languages, and successful strategies within bilingual special education, ensuring a well-rounded development opportunity for all participants.

Experience: NYCDOE - Multilingual/Immigrant Family & Community Conference
Delivering bilingual presentations in Spanish and English at the New York City Department of Education's Division of Multilingual Learners on "Empowering Parents: Advocacy and Engagement in their Children's Education."

Experience: Suffolk County Hispanic Heritage
Organizing the annual Hispanic Heritage event for the Suffolk County Hispanic Advisory Board.

Experience: SUNY Old Westbury Summer Teacher Institute 2023
This workshop focused on the disparities in academic achievement and resource allocation between English Language Learners (ELL) and their non-ELL counterparts, highlighting the need for additional support for students whose home language is not English. It reviewed pertinent data, regulations, and laws related to ELL education and discussed efforts to bridge these gaps, notably by the New York State Association for Bilingual Education (NYSABE), New York State's premier bilingual advocacy organization. The session covered critical topics such as the placement of ELLs in bilingual and special education services and proposed strategies for educators to analyze their own district and school data. By identifying issues and implementing targeted advocacy and action, the workshop aimed to ensure ELLs receive a comprehensive education that is appropriate for their age, grade, and linguistic background.
