My Story

I am Priscilla Zárate, founder and president of Vanguard Leadership Consulting, an esteemed educational consultancy that is revolutionizing the educational landscape. Our mission is to transform the methodologies and leadership strategies of educators across the board.

With a distinguished career spanning over twenty-five years, I am a seasoned educational leader and advocate whose expertise traverses the entire spectrum of educational domains. My multifaceted background encompasses comprehensive experience in curriculum and instruction, programmatic, compliance, fiduciary oversight, state reporting, program development, management, and coordination, as well as teacher observations and professional development. This journey has allowed me to delve deeply into the complex and multifaceted aspects that shape the realm of education, granting me invaluable insights into its inner workings, challenges, and opportunities for improvement.

My professional journey has been both rich and diverse, marked by roles ranging from a bilingual program teacher to an administrator for Pre-K-12 ENL programs. This wide-ranging background has endowed me with a comprehensive understanding of instructional strategies, program development, policy implementation, and fiduciary responsibilities, all of which are critical in guiding educators, schools, and districts towards success. As the former Chief Executive Director of the New York City Department of Education, I had the distinct honor and responsibility of supporting a diverse body of 150,000 English language learners across an expansive network of 1,800 schools. This pivotal role afforded me the unique opportunity to significantly enhance the educational landscape of one of the world's most dynamic and largest school systems in New York State.
